Rio's 3yo Year

This was the year I started Rio under saddle.  He was a really good boy though all this, tolerating all my dumb mistakes :)

This was the culmination of our clinic.  Rio's first time to canter.  Considering the circumstances, I thought he did most admirably!

The last thing we did for Rio's 3yo year was a dressage clinic at his breeder's farm.  While there were things I would change, definitely, it was a good experience for both of us.  Both of us were POOPED at the end of this, but we both survived.  Shortly after this, Rio partially tore his right hind flexor tendon sheath, so he spent the winter on pasture rest.  Tough life that kid...
