Rio's 5yo Year
Well, to date, this hasn't been a very good year.  After a long wet winter which meant very little riding, since there is only pasture at Rio's barn, we actually started out pretty good once the weather dried out for a little bit.  Then, on April 19, after a rain the day before, Rio slipped in the mud and fell into a fence, severing his right hind extensor tendon.  I can't remember when I've ever been so upset about something.  The good news is that if you're going to severe a tendon, this is the one to do it to.  Through all this time, Rio's never been lame at the walk, and has been a very very good boy.  He's been on stall rest, with bandage changes every day for a little bit, and every other day since then.  He's maintained good spirits and is healing well.  So, hopefully you aren't squeamish, as here are picture.  Fingers crossed that the good prognosis that he has is actually going to play out!
The first 2 picures here are from the first week.
These last 2 pictures are from about week 7 or so.
